PPP-RI Networking and Educational Session: Trends in Philanthropy

Our session will explore philanthropic trends in our current environment: what donors are thinking and how to engage them, an overview of giving trends prior to COVID19 and how that set the stage for where we are now, discussion of current implications of COVID19 and social justice movement on fundraising efforts and our predictions for trends in 2021. 

Hannnah Kanstroom is a Philanthropic Strategist for the National Consulting and Advisory Practice at Bank of America Philanthropic Solutions based in Boston. As a Philanthropic Strategist, Hannah delivers customized consulting and advisory services to Bank of America nonprofit clients’ boards of directors, investment committees and senior leaders. Her areas of focus include strategic planning, mission advancement, next gen engagement, nonprofit governance and board dynamics. Additionally, Hannah provides guidance to individuals, families, and foundations to navigate the complexities of their philanthropic journey.

Before joining Bank of America, Hannah held roles with Morgan Stanley on their Community Affairs team and on the business development team of a social media advertising start-up called appssavvy, as a Senior Strategic Partner Manager, managing relationships and driving business growth.

Hannah holds a B.A. in Psychology from Boston College and a Masters in Social Work with a focus on Corporate Social Responsibility and Nonprofit Management from Columbia University. Hannah holds the Char­tered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®) designation awarded from the American College in 2020.

Currently, Hannah serves on the Board of Directors and is the Chair of the Mission Advancement Committee for the Boston Center for the Arts, is a Steering Committee member for the Boston Chapter of Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy (EPIP), a Co-Chair for the EPIP Arts and Culture Committee and serves on the Steering Committee for Philanthropy MA’s Program Staff Learning Network.
